The Navshya Ganapati Temple at Anandvalli on Gangapur-Someshwar road and has history of around 300-400 years. The temple was built at the time of Peshvas. The Ganapati Idol is famous amongst its followers as ‘Navashya’ because it is said that he grants all wishes of anyone who comes to him, Ganapati answers to the offerings in prayers (‘navas’) and thousands of followers have experienced this act of god.

In the year 1774 Raghoba Peshava and his wife Anandibai built this temple. Shreemant Madhavrao Peshve and Matoshri Gopikabai were also devotees of Shri Navshya Ganapati.

On 15th August 1764, Raghoba Peshava and his wife Anandibai had a son who was named Vinayak. On that day the village was named Anandvalli and work started for building the temple. The temple is situated on the banks of river Godavari.

The idol is very attractive and its eyes are very lively.

Raghoba Peshava also constructed a palace at Anandvalli. In year 1818 the palace was destroyed by British Empire however the temples were untouched.

This Ganapati temple in Sangli is one of the famous temples in south Maharashtra for its artistic construction. The temple is built out of black stone made available from the hills of Jyotiba. The premise of the temple is huge, covering a sprawling two acres. It comprises of a platform, an excellent hall and a nagarkhana. The door of the sanctum is carved out of different colored natural wood. The idol of Lord Ganesh was consecrated in the central temple in 1843. The temple is located on eastern bank of river Krishna.

The poojamurti of the Lord is made out of copper and is astride a lion. The utsavmurti is very beautiful and taller than the poojamurti. It is located in such a way that it is visible from any road in Ganapati Peth. On some specific days, the dawning sun’s rays illuminate the idol’s face.

History of Suvarnaganesha is quite fascinating. It was on the special day of November 17th 1998 (Sankashti Chaturthi as per the Hindu calendar) that there was found a copper box beneath the earth some 40-50 cm. It was weighing 30 kilos,37.5 cm(27 inches) in length,45 cm(18 inches) wide,17.5(7 inches) in height, in a coconut cultivation near the temple.

The box was muddy as it was buried and looked ancient. It had some words written from the 10 century in Sanskrit.

This incident attracted all the mob from the Diveagar village. It was to everyone’s astonishment as what could be in the box?
This was the second incident that an ancient piece of history was found, as earlier there was found a “Tamraptra” at the same place. May be this box could relate something with the “Tamraptra” opening the door of the unsolved mysteries of past…

And the box was opened at 12 noon…

There was a sculpture of Lord Ganesh made out of pure gold. Also the box contained ornaments belonging to Lord Ganesha. It was then that the god was named “Suvarnaganesh”.

Suvarnaganesh is a complete idol of Lord Ganesha, but a sculpture of pure 24 caret gold. Its weighted 1 kilo and 300grams ,with height of 60cm(24 inches). The sculpture made is 300 to 400 years ancient. It is said that this sculpture was created to mask some Lord Ganesh stone idol, which was earlier in the temple.

However its still a puzzle as to who has buried it and for what reason. But people of Diveagar have tremendous faith in Suvarnagensh and that the god is blessing the place with prosperity.

Lakshmanaraju sponsored the cost for the Panchamukhi idol of Lord Ganesha. On 6th Feb, 1984 the Ganesh Pratisthanapa happened under the guidance of Shri Shri Shri Abhinava Vidyateertha Swami of Sharatha Peetha Shrungeri.

Panchamukhi Ganesha one of the very famous Ganesha temples in Bangalore.

The Mandal, formerly known as ‘Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, Lalbaug’ was founded in the year 1928, because of a vow (Navas) for construction of the present Lalbaug Market at its existing place. The market place at Peru Chawl was shut down in 1932. Hence, the fishermen and vendors who used to sit in the open place vowed to Lord Ganesh for permanent place for their market. With the consistent efforts & support of the then local Councillor-Late Shri. Kuwarji Jethabhai Shah, Dr. V. B. Korgaonkar, Shri.Nakhawa Kokam Mama, Bhausaheb Shinde, Dr.U.A. Rao and the local residents, the landlord Rajabai Tayyabali agreed to give a plot for construction of a market. As fulfillment of their wish, the fisherman and the traders established the Ganesh Idol on 12.09.1934. The idol was dressed in the customary fashion of fisherman. Since that day onwards, this Lord Ganesh has become popular as it fulfills the wishes of devotees. The Mandal was formed in the era when the freedom struggle was at its peak. Idagunji Ganesh

Idagunji is a sacred place of Hindu worship in Honnavara taluk of Uttara Kannada (North Canara) district in Karnataka. The famous temple at Idagunji dedicated to Lord Ganapati is the main attraction, receiving more than 1 million devotees per year. Idagunji is about 14 kms southeast of Honnavar.

The two handed Ganapati is holding Modaka and Padma (Lotus) in his hands. According to the legend Lord Ganapati stayed in the place Kunjaranya which is now renowned as Idagunji (Idakuñja). It is said to be a place of penance selected by ancient Rishies (Saints).

The Ganesh Temple is located in Titwala of Thane District. This temple at Titwala is more properly known as the Maha Ganesh temple.

Legend has it that King Dushyant married Shakuntala in the Titwala temple.

It’s believed that original Ganesh idol, was consecrated by the sage Kanva, and disappeared while the adjacent lake was being constructed. The present idol was consecrated by Madhavrao Peshwe.

Popular folklore and belief has it that if one worships the Titwala Maha Ganesh, one gets married to the person one desires. If the Lord is propitiated with all sincerity and strict religious manner, marital conflicts are settled.

The temple of Dholya Ganapati is located along the Krishna River. It was built in 1762 by Raja Bhoja of the Shilahar dynasty to protect the town. The idol was consecrated in the year 1769 in the Hindu month of Vaishakh shuddha the 13th. It took then a whopping Rs. 1.5 lakh and 10 years of work to complete this temple.

The temple is made out of finished stone. The inner sanctum is spacious, with a huge hall in the front. A stone floor covers the whole temple. The rear part of the temple is shaped like a fish. This structure proves useful in case of a flood as it protects the temple. The Ganapati idol is carved out of monolith, and is about 10 ft tall and 8 ft wide. The deity is acquired it name Dholya Ganapati from its massive size (In Marathi, Dholya means huge or fat).

Shri Girijatmaj Vinayak refers to the Ganesh as the son of Parvati. Girija is another name for Parvati and Atamaj means son. This is the only temple of the Ashtavinayak which is on a mountain and is set in a Buddhist cave-temple (also known as known as Ganesh Gufa).

The idol faces north with its trunk to the left, and has to be worshiped from the rear of the temple. This idol can be worshiped by anyone. There is no electric bulb in the temple. The temple is constructed such that during the day it is always lighted up by the sun-rays!

The temple is situated 12 km from Narayangaon, which is about 94 km from Pune on the Pune-Nashik highway. Nearest railway station is Talegaon.

Shree Mayureshvara ( also called as Moreshwara) Ashtavinayak temple is at Morgaon. Morgaon is at the distance of 64 kms from Pune, Maharashtra, next to the river Karha in the village of Moregaon.

The idol of Lord Ganesha, riding a peacock, in the form of Mayureshwara is believed to have slain the demon Sindhu at this spot. The idol, with its trunk turned to the left, has a cobra (Nagaraja) poised over it protecting it. This form of Ganesha also has two other murtis of Siddhi (Capability) and Buddhi (Intelligence).

However, this is not the original idol which is said to have been consecrated twice by Brahma, once before and once after being destroyed by the asura Sindhurasur. The original murti, smaller in size and made of atoms of sand, iron, and diamonds, was supposedly enclosed in a copper sheet by the Pandavas and placed behind the one that is currently worshiped.

The Siddhivinayak Ashtavinayak Temple is at Siddhtek a remote little village along the river Bhima in the Ahmednagar district and Karjat tehsil in Maharashtra.

The deity of this temple is swayambhu, three feet high and two and a half feet wide, facing north. The trunk of the deity is turned towards the right. A Ganpati with the trunk turned to the right is considered to be the dynamic form of Ganpati. The statue is in one corner of a hillock.
