Infant Jesus of Prague

Welcome! So, you decided to stop in and see what this website is all about. I’m glad you did.

So who is this little guy all dressed in red looking like royalty? This is the little Infant Jesus of Prague.

Now wait…before you click out of here and think this is another “holy roller” site, take a moment to hear me out.

Yes, I am a Catholic Christian. Went to the Catholic grade school and had the nuns whack me on the knuckles with a ruler several times. Even had some soap in my mouth.

But what I am here to tell you is something my mom taught me back when I was in 4th grade.

Mom always had this funny little statue up above the china cabinet. He was made of ceramic and had some cracks and pieces missing. She taught me the story of this little character and it has stayed with me ever since. It has been at the foundation of my Christian faith since then.

Now to those out there who will say, “Oh, another crazy Catholic worshiping an idol or statue” just hold on a minute. I believe faith is inside one’s self and if an image or tradition helps to build one’s faith in Jesus then who on this mortal earth is going to trump that?

Back to me…So, as a kid, I had all of these needs and wants and figured I could pray all these “old time” prayers to this Infant of Prague and all my wishes would come true. See, in the prayer book it says, “the more you honor Me, the more I will bless you.” Well, the first test came in 8th grade. I knew I was getting a “D” in math and my mom was going to kill me. So I prayed and prayed that Sister Loretta would give me something better than a “D” to go to high school with.

Guess what? I got a “C-“. You Go Little Infant of Prague!!! (hold your comments for later)

Moved into high school. Wanted to go out with this beautiful girl so I prayed and prayed and guess what? She wanted nothing to do with me. Hmmm.

Anyway, a lot more things happened to me along the way to my mid-40’s and today, what I discovered was this little Jesus figure, the Infant of Prague, was along with me the entire time. Sometimes answering prayers when appropriate and other times not. My “C-“, well, I think Sister Loretta had some pity on me. And not getting a date with that beautiful girl? I found the most beautiful woman to call my wife later on instead.

There have been ups and downs as everyone experiences. I lost my dad at an early age and could not figure-out why Jesus would allow that to happen. But in the end, I knew He was always standing by me. I had another life-changing experience take place as a teenager where I thought the world was coming to an end and in the depths of despair, hanging on a wall at a close friends house I read the poem “Footprints” and I knew it was a little message from Him to comfort me.

I have had many messages from the Infant of Prague. Quiet reminders and some that are “in my face”. Enough to know, they are coming from Him.

And no, I am not delusional or think of myself as a prophet. There are no miracles that have happened in my life. I am far from all that. But I am a sinner, who has fallen away from Him too many times to count. Yet He is always there for me. And I believe in His Blessed Mother Mary. And I pray to her as well to pray for this tired soul who has misdirected his life many, many times.

I have heard criticisms from many about praying to His Blessed Mother for intercession. But how different is it, when we ask our friends or family to pray for us? I’m simply asking the Mother of Jesus to pray for me and my intentions.

OK, enough, I am trying too hard to prove my point.

And here it is…give the Infant Jesus of Prague a try! Free trial! No postage, no shipping and handling!

He changed my life many, many years ago and continues to today. And I am just an ordinary guy. A moderate. Not a Christian conservative and not a progressive Christian either.

I make this offer to you. Send me a note (contact us page) and I promise to pray for any prayer you include. And, if you would like, include your mailing address and I will send you a little necklace medal of the Infant of Prague for free plus a prayer booklet. No obligation. Just use that contact form.

Now, I will introduce you to the Infant of Prague. These words come from the original booklet about Him. I didn’t throw the “thees and thous” in there. So bear with the writing style, it is the message that counts.

Start reading below and continue to the “His Story” page. Give it time and let me know if I can send you a free Infant of Prague medal.

I hope He touches you like he did me…

Devotion to the Infant Jesus of Prague is devotion to the Child Jesus. It is veneration of the Son of God, who in the form of an infant chose a stable for a palace, a manger for a cradle, and shepherds for worshipers.

Our Savior grants special graces to all who venerate His sacred Infancy.

The image of the Child Jesus known as the “Infant Jesus of Prague” was in reality of Spanish origin. In the 17th century, this beautiful statue was brought by a Spanish princess to Bohemia and presented to a Carmelite monastery.

This noble lady, in turn, presented the cherished image to her daughter, When the latter’s husband died, in 1623, she resolved to spend the remainder of her days in works of piety and charity.
